We would like to welcome you to Champernhayes.
Champernhayes is situated on the gentle
slope of a West Dorset hillside, with woodland above and a
stunning view of many square miles of fields below. The tiny
village of Wootton Fitzpaine is just half a mile away to the
east, down a winding lane.

Champernhayes farmhouse
and buildings originate from 1482 when, records tell us that
a French family named Champernon farmed here. Hayes is the Old
English word for enclosure, and this is how the name has been derived.
The whole area is designated as one of outstanding natural
beauty and is easily accessible from the A35 road. Our southerly
views are to the sea at Charmouth 2 miles away, and just over
the hill lies the charming historic port of Lyme Regis.

In December 2001 this coastline was designated
as the UKs only World Heritage site, (also known as the Jurassic
Coastline) due to its outstanding geology. |
Out
of Season Breaks
With its reputation for good weather, more and more visitors
are discovering Lyme Regis as an ideal spot for an out of season
break. Some choose to exchange the stress of Christmas at home
for the peace and relaxation of Yuletide traditions by the sea.
Others have discovered that Spring comes early to this
sheltered corner of the West Country and so take advantage of
the sea air and the countryside before the rest of the world
awakens.
